Well, it’s been raining for a solid week now. That is, except for a brief break last night–when it snowed. Yes, snow Memorial Day weekend. There was an inch of white on the ground this morning. I found myself feeling glad I hadn’t had the time to put the tomato plants outside yet.
There’s a fire in the woodstove today, actually for several days now. It does take the chill out of the air. I don’t know whether the cold and snow has done any damage to the garden, since I haven’t felt up to surveying just yet.
Most of the time, I scoff at forecast watchers. My motto is, you’ll know what the weather is when you go outside. But I take comfort in the opinions of the meteorologists today: they say it will be in the 80s next week!
